Mother’s Day Flower Cakes

They are such a different little gift, combining delicious cake with delicate hand-made sugar flowers which your mum (or grand mother) can keep for ages. They cost $65.00 and can be delivered for $5.00.

The little cakes are a perfect size for mum to eat all by herself or to share with one or two special people. You can choose a lovely lemon cake or a little rich chocolate cake for her or if she would prefer something gluten free I can make her a delicious hummingbird cake (banana and pineapple). Each cake has 3 layers which are filled with swiss meringue buttercream to compliment the flavour and is 4″ square.

I think most mums love flowers. So I have made 3 different colours and styles of sugar flowers to place on my little cakes. 2 are made with roses, blossoms and leaves and one is a magnolia which is wonderfully dramatic and makes a very big statement. If time allows I’m going to throw in a large dahlia as well because I quite like the simplicity of one flower on the cake.
